![]() ![]() Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #6 is a decent start to a new storyline. Finally, it is worth mentioning that I also like how IDW designates a page entitled “Galactic Data File” in each issue, which gives specific information related to the story to help readers better understand the characters and the world they live in. The artwork by Tolibao & Rodrix was well done for a series that is trying to appeal to “younger readers.” It was consistent throughout. And although I thought the direction of the story was straightforward, writer Daniel Jose Older managed to put together a script that leaves many different possible directions in future issues. That being said, this issue has some very unique and interesting characters: Master Jedi Obratuk, Qort, Gedde (who looks like a tombstone) & Skarabda the Hutt – just to name a few. I really enjoyed the previous storyline ( Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures) and was a little disappointed that the new arc doesn’t feature Zeen, Lula, or Krix. Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #6 begins a new story arc. Unfortunately, the young padawans soon find themselves having to take charge as Master Jedi Obratuk (being a Parwan) enters into a state of hibernation. Now, Farzala & Qort are sent with Jedi Master Obratuk to Bilbousa, Nal Hutta, on a diplomatic mission meeting with the Hutts, who are in a battle with the Drengir (a vicious plant creature taking over the galaxy). Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #6 – “Mission to Bilbousa Part 1” written by Daniel Jose Older with artwork by Harvey Tolibao & Pow Rodrix features Jedi Padawans Farzala & Qort. Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #1 creates something completely new for the first time in years. While the alien races are unfamiliar, it is easy to remember this is a timeline that has not been explored in the new cannon. Artists Harvey Tolibao and Nick Brokenshire are the true heroes of this book. Writer Daniel Jose Older creates tense situations and plenty of action scenes. When she adventures forth, Zeen runs into many things she didn’t expect, including a surprising confrontation with a planetary dictator named Tartak Vil. A Jedi Knight known as Zeen morns her loved one until she discovers that her partner may still be alive. ![]() Villain Marchion Ro and his followers (the Nihil marauders) have destroyed the space station Starlight Beacon and have cut off hundreds worlds of the Outer Rim from the rest of the galaxy. (Phase I began earlier this year.) It takes place sometime before what is known as “The Fall of the Jedi” – which is the Prequel Trilogy. ![]() This new series, subtitled Trails of the Jedi, is the first part of “Phase III” in Dark Horse’s High Republic Chronicles. Dark Horse Comics, once the only comic company to publish Star Wars content, has begun to expand past the “current” timeline with its new series, Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures. Ever since the Star Wars license was acquired by Disney, much of what came before the acquisition (in the Expanded Universe) was rebranded as “Legends.” While Marvel has yet to touch on events that are not part of the three movie trilogies, the Legends brand has been given to other comic companies to work with.
